HOSPAL was founded in 1977 by the merger of the artificial kidney operations of two European chemical and pharmaceutical companies, Rhône-Poulenc and Sandoz. Both companies had been active in this rapidly developing field for a number of years. In combination, the new organisation gained the now famous high-flux AN69 membrane and the highly valued patented technology for the volumetric control of ultrafiltration.
In 1987, after ten years of continuous success and growth, HOSPAL joined the GAMBRO group, an acquisition that was complemented in 1990 when the American company COBE also joined the Group. This resulted in the creation of one of the world's leaders within the field of dialysis.
Today, the HOSPAL products, still largely developed and manufactured in our European units, are distributed worldwide through a network of trade companies and commercial distributors.
Exclusively dedicated to hemodialysis, after years of collaboration with the medical community in an unfaltering pursuit of the best possible treatment for hemodialysis patients, we have built a strong culture orientated towards the constant search for high quality products and therapies.
This philosophy has led us through 25 years of continuous innovation, constantly striving for quality patient care. Proud of our past achievements and with the support of those who create, develop and prescribe our products, we will remain firmly committed to our quest.
